A day on a boat is one of those experiences you’ll remember for a long time, even if you aren’t a navigation expert. Just prepare well and the rest will follow naturally.
Before you head out. Choose your date by checking the weather and wind forecasts, and arrive early for the briefing with the skipper or staff: they will explain the safety equipment, how the boat works, and which areas to avoid.
What to bring. Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a swimsuit, a dry change of clothes, and a towel. It’s best to wear shoes with soft, non-marking soles. Water and snacks are always a good idea, especially if you plan on anchoring for a swim.
License or no license? Some low-power motorboats can be operated without a boating license within a certain distance from the coast. Rules vary, so ask us which boat is right for you. Alternatively, you can rent with a skipper and focus entirely on relaxing.
During the day. Plan just a few stops, but enjoy them at a relaxed pace: a swim, lunch on board, a stretch of slow cruising to look at the coast. Rushing is the true enemy of a great outing.
A final tip. Head back with a bit of a buffer before sunset. The last hours of light are the most beautiful.
